Hi Madhu, Thanks for the answer. I’ve try to experiment a bit more. It was not the thing you mentioned with double clicking, I did not do that. I’m afraid I can’t get a great example for you, but what I notice is that it does work for me, but when I hit CTRL+V at the same time (instead of first holding CTRL down and then pressing V), I get the wrong action I mentioned above. There is no easy and quick way of importing a video here, but I think you get what I mean. Regards,Guus
Dear @Madhu Krishnappa, Great to see that you are working on this and great to see the progress!I have tested it out a bit (in AIMMS 126.96.36.199) and seems to work quite okay. I just noticed one thing when testing it. Sometimes the copying and pasting works well and sometimes it doesn’t. What happens is this:I copy a selection of four cells and select four other cells to paste them in, when i hit CTRL+V, it pastes the selection of four directly into the first cell (which doesn’t work). This is what I see:the four cells get pasted into the first cell, instead of over all fourthe error i get
Correct, I instruct them to go to the app via this link: https://PORTALURL/launch/APPNAME/tag/latest. So they don’t see the app catalogue page Also correct, this isn’t for all of course. But I’m assuming that they bookmark once they are in the app and then the version number is in the link and therefore the bookmark won’t work when we launch a new version. Also correct. I just checked, past year 230 users used the app and not nearly all came to me with this issue, so most of them do it correctly. But not all, I do get this question more frequentlyThanks for the help Jan-Willem!
Hi @Gertjan, as I had some issues with this again lately, I went back to this conversation. I understand that the change with rerouting is not an easy one, but when reading this conversation again, I realized we never spoke about my second proposal and also added a third idea. Which was the following: Add a message in the error message below, pointing out to users that they should try the link that consists of the /tag/latest. Or to point out the general link (xxx.cloud.aimms.com/applications/). As users are now stuck with this screen and don’t know what to do. Even better, if a user doesn’t have the right authorization, reroute them to the latest version.
Hello @Guus Kattenbelt I have checked in with the team and unfortunately this is not a simple change as the ‘latest’ option is just a reroute to the actual version where the version is part of the URL. As the browser bookmark feature does not know anything about ‘latest’, this then of course generates the problem of being unable to bookmark it as such. Changing this would require an extensive restructure of how we publish apps and would then also create possible other conflicts regarding caching of apps. Hence, for now, we unfortunately won’t take it on; however, we sure keep it in mind towards the future because also we do not find this ideal. This does mean your users would have to be more exact when bookmarking their Apps (eg changing their bookmark) to prevent issues later on. My apologies for not being able to help you at this time! That is unfortunate, but thanks for the feedback @Gertjan!
Hi @Gertjan, I understand the decision to not trying to get the feature of the revert back. However, I would like the to keep the ‘end user edit’ option. I myself give the option only to developers and testers. This way, when testing, trying to debug the way the app works, or going deeper into data of customers is made easier when this mode is on. You can more easily remove a display domain or add some parameter from the background to a table (or create a new table), to see how that parameter is filled. On the one hand this is nice because the app works faster online and on the other because some features might react different when using it online. So therefore I would like to keep this option in please. Kind regards, Guus
I would like to have both options. I can see for smaller apps that you might want to disable it for all tables in an app. But currently in the app I wanted it for, we have quite some download/upload procedures for the input part of the app. To avoid confusion, I would like to disable the csv downloads there. But for output tables we have not (yet) made any download procedures (as this also takes time and is not that important), so there I would like to keep the csv option, if a user really wants to extract it to an excel for some reason. So for this app, the per table switch would really help. And the hierarchy indeed sounds like the logical way to do it.
That looks great Gertjan, could really use that! Also nice that there are even more possibilities. This looks like something we might use for validation (display number of errors and warnings and when you click on it, go to a dialog page with more information).
Hi mohansx, Thanks for the answer. I had already read these articles and saw that you can indeed specify your own custom message. The only thing I cannot find, is how to use information about where the reading of the excel went wrong in the excel. The standard message says something about the specific element that is not recognized as an index in a set. I would like to create my own error message, using this information (which element, which set/index), but I do not see this option in the error handling.
When reading a table from an excel (and putting in wrong data) I get a pop-up in the UI stating what index it can't recognize and is therefore wrong, so something like this: "ReadTable : Cell A2 in 'Excelfile': 'Wrong element' is not an existing element in the set 'Technical name of set'" And I would like to use this information to make a specific pop-up for the end-user, so I can specify how to solve this error and also change the name of 'Technical name of set' to a name that they would recognize. So the exact element and index that are wrong, is stored somewhere, I would like to make use of this, but I can't find where to get this information.
