Sometimes we need to delete widget. But it is only possible from “App” tab, not from “Page” tab. While in “App” we cannot see which one is unassigned. Good to have option to delete widget from “Page” tab. Or maybe just give marks in App tab to identify which widgets are not used.

I can only agree with that. And your other suggestion, to add something like a search/filter option, is in the same category.

The ‘Page’ tab in the side bar was created to be able to support Grid Layout pages, and manage them.

The ‘App’ tab predates it, but obviously there are quite a few overlapping concepts between the two. Which, logically, could be combined into one ‘manager’ that has the combined context menu contents and a structure that mixes pages, widget and widget areas.

For smaller apps, switching is manageable, but for larger app, and pages with many widgets, the switching becomes a bit tedious.

At the same time, some of the operations would also not look out of place right on the widget itself, or on the widget areas, within the page.

We’ve been unable to work on those improvements since releasing Grid Layout, some years ago, focusing on new widgets, widget features and internal code enhancements instead of the app developer’s experience. You could call that disappointing, but I don’t think a ‘half-baked’ intermediate solution would have served anyone either, especially when it might have been badly designed.

Luckily we have gained renewed attention to the whole of the user experience for WebUI, for both developers and end-users. And those items have moved up on the roadmap, although changes for end-users are more prominent, currently. Our design partner is involved in the designs for all of that.

I invite all community visitors to raise ideas and questions and desirable features, upvoting the ones that are already here too. It helps us in determining which items need to be prioritized, amidst all of the options we see. Thanks!
