What features would you want to see in aimmspy?

This year we will develop and release aimmspy, a Python library that will allow you to combine the power and convenience of Python with the well-known strengths of AIMMS. We already spent quite a lot of time designing the functionality of this library, but we are keen to hear your thoughts and ideas. And we are purposely not sharing our ideas to prevent directing your thinking 😎. Can you please share your thoughts on what you would like to see in such a library, as reply to this post? Reading and writing calendar elements in DEX

Hi community, we have the below (screenshot) calendar identifier in AIMMS and are writing data indexed over iWeek (elements of the form "w44-2024") to Parquet files using DEX. Now, whenever DEX does this for us, these elements are written to the Parquet file as "2024-10-28 01:00:00" instead, looking like a datetime object being the first time instant of this week. Similarly, for months, a datetime object is written being the first time instant of this month. However, when reading in these Parquet files again using DEX, with the same mapping, these month elements are read in correctly while the week elements are not. I.e., the element "2024-10-28 01:00:00" above cannot be mapped back again to "w44-2024". We would be interested to hear any best practices regarding reading and writing calendar elements using DEX and if we are overlooking something here. Thanks!

Dealing with openapi spec value that can be float OR string in DEX

For a test I am working on at the moment, I am using the DEX library to automatically generate an AIMMS library for a webservice based on the OpenAPI json spec. Unfortunately, in one of the models I have a property with the following definition: "value": { "anyOf": [ { "type": "number" }, { "type": "string" } ], "title": "Value"} I am not responsible for the webservice, so did not know that something was changed (the anyOf). It took me a long time to figure out why after the api call was done there was no data anymore. I did not get any errors or warnings and I unfortunately forgot to check the CallErrorCode parameter. Finally, I was able to find what went wrong by modifying the generated callback procedure and replace the line CallErrorCode := dex::ProtectedReadFromFile(ResponseFile('responsebody'), responsefileMapping('responsebody')) ; with a block/onerror do piece where I manually call the dex::ReadFromFile procedure allowing me to catch the error. Ways to extract the final results from AIMMS

May I know what are steps should I follow to extract the results from AIMMS to other formatted file, ex: from AIMMS to EXCEL / AIMMS to WORD but not by manually. Is there any ways for it?

DEX Initialization

For one of our AIMMS apps, we read in a file from the ADLS on startup. This happens in a procedure that is part of PostMainInitialization. We call dex::dls::ListFiles to determine which file to read, but the API call fails. Presumably, this problem occurs because parameter StorageAccount is only initialized in procedure Initialize in the PostLibraryInitialization of DEX. This post lib is only run after our PostMainInitialization is run. Is there a way to automatically run a procedure on start-up of the application, that is run after the PostLibraryInitialization of DEX? Or is it possible for you to change DEX such that StorageAccount is initialized in the LibraryInitialization instead of the PostLibraryInitialization?

Reading Excel Data Sheets

Today, during a short customer meeting, I got questions on how to read in data, when that data is presented in an Excel workbook; whether to continue to use a single sheet containing multiple tables, or put each table in a separate sheet - a data sheet; and if so; to continue using AXLL, or switch over to AimmsDEX. Illustrative examples were appreciated. For an Excel sheet containing multiple tables and scalars; you will need to use AXLL. Excel data sheets are one of the de-facto industry standards for exchanging data between programs. Export the AIMMS file to Excel

Hi guys, I’m a student from the university of HEC in Belgium and I need your help for one project that I’m working on for one of my courses. In fact, I have received a database from Excel that I have exported on AIMMS (which has been done succesfully). Then I’ve realized my parameters, constraints, … in order to optimize the function that the teacher gave to us. But now, the teacher expects to us to export the AIMMS file to Excel to realize our analysis (so once all the values have been computed, we have to export these numbers to Excel in order to analyze these numbers) and I don’t understand how can I export the AIMMS file to the Excel. Can you please, try to help me? Thanks for the answers :)

Possibility to modify the DEX oauth2 callback url

Hi, trying to see if I can get AIMMS (running locally on my computer) to talk to one of our internal authenticated API endpoints, but running into a problem with the callback url. In the documentation, I see that the callback URL aimms will use locally is http://localhost/oauth2. However, when I run it from my own computer, I see it is actually using http://localhost:8080/oauth2. Both of these unfortunately are not on the list of approved callback urls…. Since I am not the owner of the application that I trying to call, it is quite difficult for me to request a new URL to be added to the list of approved URLs. There is a local developer URL already approved and would like to make AIMMS use that particular one. The URL that is approved is http://localhost:3000/login/azure/authorized. Is there any way I can make AIMMS use this particular callback URL instead of the current hardcoded (which also is different from the documentation).

dex::ReadFromFile not checking sheet name

Hello, It seems that when you upload a file using the dex::ReadFromFile (dex 23.1.1.2) and using an excel mapping structure like: <AimmsExcelMapping> <ExcelSheetMapping name="Demand"> <RowMapping> uploading a wrong sheet name does not results in a failure which I would have expected to be. Do I need to add something to the mapping? Or is this not how it supposed to work? Glad to hear any feedback. Marc

"binds-existing" attribute from DEX Library Excel

The binds-existing attribute can be used in conjunction with the binds-to attribute to indicate that, when reading a data file, no new set elements will be created, allowing for a filtering mechanism where a data file can only be partially read for the nodes that correspond to existing set elements in the model. I have a predefined set named t with valued {1,2,3,4}. I want to read an Excel file which contains a column named “time” having values (e.g., 0, 5, 6) not included in the previous set, which I do not want to add to set t. I am specifying the binds-existing attribute in the DEX mapping as follows: <ColumnMapping name=”time" binds-existing="t" binds-to="t" /> I have not changed the skip-non-existing attribute, so I was expecting that binds-existing attribute would not add the referred values (0, 5, 6) into the predefined set t. However, it still does. What am I doing wrong? Did I correctly specify the binds-existing attribute? Thank you very much PS: There are almost no specific

Reading zero values using DEX Library Excel

I want to map data from an Excel file using DEX ExcelSheetMapping to a parameter named “Capacity”. However, I cannot get that null (“0”) values are read into the parameter “Capacity”. I have a constraint that imposes an upper limit over a variable named Stock, as follows: Stock <= Capacity I need to read null (“0”) values to impose that the variable Stock is null. How can I do it? Thank you PS: I omit indexes for the sake of simplicity

DEX Library Excel Read "TRUE" and "FALSE" values

Hi AIMMS Community, I am writing a procedure to read in data from an Excel file using the DEX library. Some of our tables have binary data written as strings: “TRUE” and “FALSE”. I have been unsuccessful in reading these values, and am seeking guidance. Here is a simplified example Test data, I’ve also attached it to this file: And the XML file (also attached): I tried a few tests to read in the column with TRUE/FALSE : Read into P_test(i_test), a parameter with binary range Read into P_test(i_test), a parameter with no defined range Read into SP_Test(i_test), a string parameter Additional Notes: The set “s1” reads successfully into i_test. “value2” also successfully read into SP_Test2. “true” autocorrects to “TRUE” in Excel, so it seems that Excel is doing something to format these values. When I save this tab as a CSV, the values show as strings “TRUE” and “FALSE”. We have used the most recent DEX library version (2.0.0.1)
