I'm having trouble using an academic license on a machine that previously used it. I now get an error: “failed to get AIMMS license” though I have checked that my license is still valid and my machine is connected to the internet. Any idea what might be happening?

Hello Kira,

Thank you for reaching out.

It can be due to several reasons. How long have you not used the license? After some period of inactivity the license gets deactivated and you have to request a new one. If that is not the case can you please try opening the website from either Internet Explorer or Microsoft Edge https://licensing.aimms.cloud & https://license.aimms.com
By opening the websites you should download the certificate and try to use the license afterwards.

Are you using the whole URL that was sent to you via e-mail? Often users don't copy the whole URL and it can cause issues like this.

What version of AIMMS Developer are you using? If you are using older version than 4.66 it might worth reading the below link:

Kind regards,

Aleks

Hi Aleks,

Thanks for your response. I have used the license within the last week (and expiration date is currently in Feb 2026). I get a 403 error when I try to load license.aimms.com, but I have tried opening licensing.aimms.cloud. Yes, I have used the full URL for the license.

In an older version (AIMMS Developer 4.91) I get a certificate verify failed error. When I open in more recent versions (24.5.6.9 or 25.4.3.3), I get the “no account exists” error as described above.

Is there any other way I can re-download the certificates besides loading the web pages you mentioned?

Thanks,
Kira
