Following earlier communications about the end-of-life status of AIMMS WinUI and AIMMS PRO On-Premise, this document provides answers to frequently asked questions, along with clarification on implications and recommended next steps.

WinUI

What changes should I be aware of?

  • The last AIMMS version supporting WinUI will be 26.xx (2026)
  • From 2027 onwards, new AIMMS versions will no longer support creating or running WinUI applications

Will my existing WinUI applications continue to work?

Yes. Existing applications will remain operational, as both AIMMS PRO On-Premise and the AIMMS Cloud Platform continue to support and run applications developed with earlier AIMMS versions.

Can I continue developing or maintaining WinUI applications?

  • Development of new WinUI applications is no longer recommended
  • Maintenance of existing applications remains possible using AIMMS 26.xx or earlier versions

What level of support can I expect for WinUI?

To avoid the impression that continued WinUI support is the default, there are two clear paths: (1) migrate to WebUI or (2) remain on WinUI with extended support conditions.

Support for WinUI is limited and focused on continuity:

Included:

  • Critical security vulnerability fixes
  • Production-blocking issues
  • Exceptional cases

Conditions:

  • Fixes are only provided on AIMMS 26.xx
  • Customers may be required to upgrade to this version to receive fixes

Not included:

  • New features or enhancements
  • Support for new solver versions
  • Issues resulting from changes in Microsoft WinUI

Is there support for transitioning to WebUI?

  • There is currently no dedicated migration tooling
  • AIMMS will share guidance on transition approaches, including opportunities leveraging AI, in upcoming communications

Will WinUI be removed from the AIMMS IDE?

No, the Data Pages will not be removed.
The IDE will evolve over time as part of ongoing modernization efforts.

What are the implications if I continue using WinUI?

  • Continued use requires staying on AIMMS 26.xx
  • An increase will apply at renewal to ensure availability and support of this version

If you are already transitioning to WebUI, please reach out to your Account Manager to discuss your situation.

How long will AIMMS 26.xx remain supported?

Support is planned until December 31, 2030.

Will older AIMMS versions remain supported?

No. Limiting support to more recent versions enables continued innovation focused on:

  • Faster decision-making
  • Reduced uncertainty
  • Improved insights
  • Accelerated processes through OR/Math and AI integration

Is support available for migration?

Yes. AIMMS can connect you with partners who support transitions from WinUI to WebUI.
Please contact your Account Manager for more information.

AIMMS PRO On-Premise

What changes should I be aware of?

  • The AIMMS Cloud Platform remains the strategic alternative
  • No new features or enhancements are being added to AIMMS PRO On-Premise

What level of support is available?

To clarify positioning, there are again two paths: (1) migrate to the Cloud Platform or (2) continue On-Premise with extended support conditions.

Support is limited to:

  • Critical security vulnerability fixes
  • Production-blocking issues

To continue providing this support:

  • A  increase will apply to the annual maintenance or subscription fee

If you are transitioning to the AIMMS Cloud Platform, please contact your Account Manager to discuss next steps.

Can I continue using AIMMS PRO On-Premise?

Yes. Usage is supported as long as a maintenance or subscription fee is active.

Path Forward

Based on the above, we recommend:

  • If you're actively using WinUI or PRO On-Premise with no migration planned:
Contact your Account Manager to assess your transition options. This covers your current setup, timelines, and commercial implications of staying on legacy versions versus migrating.
  • If you're already transitioning:
Let your Account Manager know your target timeline. We can align support coverage and connect you with migration partners where needed.
  • If you're unsure what applies to you:
Your Account Manager can walk through your configuration and recommend a path.

If you have further questions or would like to discuss your specific situation, please contact your AIMMS representative.
