In my model, I am tracking the production date of certain products. It is possible to produce a product at time t, while allocating it to demand on time t+3. However, there is a maximum ‘age’ of a product. For example ‘If a product is older that three days, it cannot be allocated’. Now, given an allocation variable v_Allocate(i_Order, i_AllocationDay, i_Product, i_ProductionDay), indicating the allocation on day i_AllocationDay to order i_Order of i_Product which has production day i_Production day, I would like to restrict the index range to ‘valid’ combinations e.g. production day >= t-3.  If I would restrict the index domain on the variable like so:index domain: (i_Order, i_AllocationDay, i_Product, i_ProductionDay) | i_ProductionDay >= i_AllocationDay - 3 Do I still need to add a separate constraint to ensure this production day restriction? In addition: does it make sense to do this in the index domain? 

Given a set of nodes and directed edges (from parent to child node), is it possible to construct an indexed set S_Children(i_node) that contains all children of the specified node? With all children I mean the set of all reachable nodes, starting from i_node.For example:s_Nodes := {A, B, C}s_Edges := {(A, B), (B, C)}Then I would want:s_Children(A) := {B, C} Edit: The edges are actually defined through a binary parameter. i.e. p01_edge(A, := 1;p01_edge(B, C) := 1;

Hello,I am trying to print a custom message at the command-line, while running aimms via a batch-file. The goal is to get an information about the status and the progress of the optimization. I have tried the DialogMessage, DialogProgress and the Display function with no success. Can anyone help me with that?Best regardsJonathan 

In my projects I like to use prefixes such as ‘s_’ for sets and 'p_’ for parameters.However, when designing a webUI page, I would like to mask these names with something more human-friendly. How do I do this?My minimal working example project contains two items:Set s_DummyData { Text: "SetDescription"; Index: i_dummy; Definition: { DATA {1 .. 100}; }}Parameter p_SampleParam { IndexDomain: i_dummy; Text: "ParamDescription"; Definition: { val(i_dummy) * 100; }}What I hoped the Text attribute would do, is replace ‘s_DummyData’ with ‘SetDescription’. Hi,Does anyone know if I can format excel cells from AIMMS? The data that I export contains date and excel automatically converts it to its own date format and changes the defaults AIMMS format. Is it possible to set it as string when writing? Thanks,

In AIMMS it is possible to read data from both a query, or a selected object (e.g. a view). I was wondering if there is a difference in performance between the two methods if the only goal is to read data.In my case, I am considering reading data from a table valued function because that allows me to filter the data according to several parameters. An alternative is reading from a view, where the parameters would appear in the columns and then used as an ‘Index domain’ when reading the database table in AIMMS.I’m generally interested in performance impact, best practices, and overall trade-offs between alternative data retrieval methods (given a database).

Hi Aimms Community,  I’m having trouble using the Sort function in order to obtain the values of a mulit-dimensional array: For example:multi-dimensional array = foo(size,car,color,location)             size, car, color, location = some float value [ ‘small’, ‘toyota’, ‘white’, ‘usa’] = 1.25 [ ‘small’, ‘toyota’, ‘green’, ‘greenland’] = .5 [ ‘small’, ‘nissan’, ‘blue’, ‘france’’] = 1.0[ ‘small’, ‘nissan’, ‘green’, ‘france’’] = .3 In this case we are looking to sort foo by the values for all colors and locations where the size and car are the same, meaning that the result would be put into another variable  bar(size,car,row)[ ‘small’, ‘toyota’, 1] = .5[ ‘small’, ‘toyota’, 2] = 1.25[ ‘small’, ‘nissan’, 1] = .3[ ‘small’, ‘nissan’, 2] = 1.0 How do I approach this problem? I looked through the documentation but I see that the Sort operator is really trying to sort by an index of an array and not the values for given indexes.  Thanks for any help

I have an old optimization from 2 years ago that uses CPLEX 12.9 and ODH_CPLEX 4.0. I want to change the solver to CPLEX 20.1 (which is available in AIMMS 4.81). However, the list of AllSolvers does not include the new CPLEX. (nor ODH-CPLEX), so I cannot change the default to the new version. Is there somewhere else in the model that need to be updated for the list of solvers to update?

Hello, I am trying to read a db file on Cloud but it is showing the error attached herewith.Description:I have created a parameter that reads value from the database Output.db with procedure ReadTable. Also, I have created a procedure AddRecord to add record to the database. I exported the aimms file to aimmspack file and uploaded it on Cloud. But it is not performing the as expected.Could you please help me with this problem? I have attached the model as well. Thank You,Vishwesh Patil

Hi. I am trying a generate a plot of optimality gap vs solution time. For that, I am trying to retrieve incumbent solution, best bound and solution time after every 5 iterations. But, for some reason, I am having issues with callback and I don’t get anything retrieved. Attached herewith are the images giving implementation of callback operation. Hello everyone,I am new to AIMMS, I am trying to solve a unit commitment problem with four thermal generator units and a PV unit. I have added the four generators in a set  with index (u) with all their parameters in the model. Now, I want to add another source of power supply which is PV as a fixed parameter, that is, constant power output. How do I add and index the PV  as it’s also a generating unit but with different characteristics? This would also affect my power balance constraints of sum of total power supply equal to load demand. 

Hi all,I’m sorry of the question is too basic, but I recently had to re-run an old code (originally developed in AIMMS 4.47) and I’m having lots of trouble correcting errors.I have a variable ( Ireal(ld) ) that uses another variable ( Vreal(bus,ph) ) in its calculation.I have an string parameter ( load_bus(ld) ) that has the “bus” value for each “ld” and a parameter ( load_ph(ld) ) that has the “ph” value for each “ld”.In  the old code I used Vreal(load_bus(ld), load_ph(ld)) to calculate the Ireal(ld), but in the new AIMMS version (4.88) I keep getting “The scope of string parameter “load_bus” has not been specified”.Can anybody please help me in what I’m missing?Thank you in advance.

Hi all,I'm a researcher and I use AIMMS with an Academic License.AIMMS is part of a routine I developed in Python and I used the "AIMMSSelector" to launch AIMMS, but since my license is now a cloud license I've not been able to launch AIMMS that way, it does not recognize the license, and only give me option to add a stand alone license or a network license server.I've been searching for materials regarding this, but couldn't find any. I can only get one shadow price for a constraint. I know that the constraints has a range of shadow prices. How can I get the range of shadow prices of this constraint? Thank you.

Hey. I am trying to implement a plot in a WinUI that displays simulation progress. In this plot, I am showing a variable value changing with simulation iteration (simulation continues until the iteration value has reached a limit). The variable is not in a math program, hence, I believe I can not obtain its value using callback (using RetrieveCurrentVariableValues procedure). Anyways, the variable gets updated at the end of every iteration. Presently, the plot between the variable value vs iteration does not show when the simulation in in progress (or when procedure is running) and appears after the procedure is over. Is there anyway to update the plot when the procedure in running? Hi,when writing to a database, is there a combination of “insert mode” and “dense mode”? I’m looking for something which does not delete the complete database table, but still writes data for rows where all parameters are empty.Benedikt

Hey. I am working to create a tool (GUI) in AIMMS platform. I have multiple pages in Page Manager for developing the tool. In one of the pages, I want to add an ‘Help’ button, clicking which should open the user manual of the tool (in pdf version - not the AIMMS user manual). Is it possible to implement this?Thanks.

I encountered this error when running the model. The model is fine, since it works with another set of input data. But with this particular data set, it gets stuck in the Presolving phase, and returns nothing. After force exciting the model, This is the message that it shows in the .err file. Have the same issue when running on the cloud as well.

I am wondering if it is possible to disable end-user filtering in one specific table in the UI?The use case as follows: the user needs to be able to do mass changes on a specific parameter displayed in the a table. The idea is that by filtering through a few multiselect widgets the user can define which rows are displayed in the table, and then via buttons or widget actions apply the mass changes.To avoid the confusion for the user, I want to restict the user from applying end-user filtering, since this will not work appropriately with the mass change procedures.
