It’s been more than two years since we launched the AIMMS Cloud Platform. During this time, we’ve seen the AIMMS Cloud grow in both its use and robustness. In this article, I’ll share some highlights of the technology behind it and why we’re pleased to see that almost 90% of new customers choose to deploy their Apps using the Cloud.
AIMMS Cloud Platform: the early days
We officially released the AIMMS Cloud Platform at the AIMMS Summit in 2017, but we had been working with three launching customers for almost a year ahead of that time. Enterprise IT adoption of cloud was accelerating. We noticed that most of our customers were experiencing IT-related friction when adopting AIMMS PRO. They were dependent on the prioritization, capacity and skills of their company's IT departments. They also had a hard time answering questions from their IT colleagues, such as the sizi

AIMMS emerged 30 years ago to bring the benefits of optimization to society. The internet was in its infancy back then. As many of you know, our original UI was made for Windows, which meant that end users would need to use the Windows operating system in their computers to run AIMMS Apps. As time passed and the internet came of age, we realized that to truly democratize the power of optimization, AIMMS needed to be in the browser. That’s why we decided to develop the AIMMS WebUI, a tool that helps you build optimization apps in a browser, on any device, and create a web-based user interface for end users. Our decision to build the WebUI coincided with the launch of AIMMS PRO, which also made the deployment of AIMMS Apps more seamless. Besides making AIMMS software more accessible, the WebUI had a powerful side-effect. Suddenly, we co
The WebUI is one of the main focus areas within our product development. For 2019 we have set ourselves the goal that we want AIMMS developers to be ‘happy’ when they use the WebUI. So far, we asked a selected group of users to tell us if we are making progress. Every 2 months we ask them the same question. How likely are you to recommend WebUI to another AIMMS app developer? Feel invited to help and join our ‘road to happiness’- team by answering this one question: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/Y9KT6SM Thanks And, of course, you can also share your thoughts by replying to this post.
Why we started the AIMMS Online Community
It’s been three decades since AIMMS was founded. Throughout the years, we’ve had a very close relationship with our users. Many of them have contributed to build and improve our product. From creating schedules for their children’s school to optimizing country-wide power grids and designing flights routes for those in need. We’re reminded of all the impactful things our users achieve with AIMMS every day and we’ve discovered that they can be quite passionate about our software. Our Online Community was the logical next step to bring AIMMS enthusiasts together.
A place that supports you in your optimization journey
Applying optimization is a journey. From time to time, there will be moments where you could use help or inspiration. We find that our users are increasingly asking for documentation, use cases and best practices. They also want to hear what other customers are doing and want to share their know-how wit
