Solved

Hi all. I am new to AIMMS and need your help with the following query: I would like to place the progress window on a GUI so that the end user can see the solution status and progress. Please let me know how do I do that and also please guide me to any documentations that I can refer for implementing the same. Thanks.

Dear mr/ms, For a school project I have been working in AIMMS. However after solving our problem, we need to validate our model. Our professor said that we had to look at the #variables and the #constraints shown in the progress feed. However, after searching on internet for a few hours we could not find anything that defined these numbers. Are there some basic calculation steps to find the #constraints and the #variables? I hope to hear from you soon. Kind regards, Stan Loog.

I want to write back changes to a MSSQL database after reading information from a table. The table is designed to provide a minimum working example and has two columns: ID: ID column starting with 1, increments with 1 VALUE: column containing integer values. I have managed to read from this database table, however, I want to be able to change a value in AIMMS and then write back the change using  write p_parameter(i_ID) to table db_TableName;   However, this gives me an error stating that I'm not allowed to insert manally into an ID column. This makes sense of course, but how do I prevent AIMMS from trying to insert into the ID column and replace old values by new ones instead?

Hi, After building a deterministic model, I constructed the robust counterpart of the model. I defined an uncertain parameter and I called the GMP  GenerateRobustCounterpart. The model seems to be running without errors, however, it does not provide any result. It seems like the variable (vAllcocationFlow) does not get filled. Can someone help me with this? I attach you here the Solve function (1) and the uncertain parameter definition (2):   Thank you very much in advance!

Hi all, I would like to define a set of valid CAPEX units.  To this end, I wrote: Set SI_Valid_CAPEX_Cost_Units {    Definition: {        data{$/kW,$/MJ}    }} However, I obtain the compilation error “The symbol “$” is not expected.”  The error points to the line data{$/kW,$/MJ}.    I can’t figure out why, since I defined another set this way: Set PossibleUnits { Definition: data { g, kg, oz, j, kj, kcal };}

Good morning, When trying to convert an old project (AIMMS 3.11) to an AIMMS 4.8 project, new compilation errors appear (attached) How can I solve it? The old project works properly and the index is really defined. Thanks in advance!!

I’m trying something like this, but compound sets does not exists anymore. Someone could please help me?

Hey everyone, I´m currently using Aimms to build a model for my Bachelor Thesis. I have never worked with Aimms before so I´m pretty clueless in some regard.   So my problem is the following constraint: sum [i, aSP(h,i)*x(i,t)] + sum [j, sum [m, aFP(h,m)*(y(j,m,t))]] <= Capacity(h)   Here x(i,t) and y(j,m,t) are the decision variables which represent the accepted requests for two Product types. i are the different types of Product x and j are different types for Product y. t stands for different Periods. aSP and aFP indicate if product x(i) or y(j) needs Ressource h for its production. I have declared Capacity(h) as a parameter with values for each h. My Problem is now that the Programm takes these values for each seperate period, but the capacity in period 2 is of course lower than the capacity in period 1 and so on. I also cant just declare Capacity parameters for each period, because the remaining capacity in the periods after period 1 depend on the sold products and therefore th

I am a beginner. I have created my model and now I need to read data from Excel. I have tried following the “ReadingExcelData.ams” example and specifically AXLL, but it doesn't work and keep getting this error: “The first argument of internal procedure "ReadUsingAXLL" must be an explicit identifier.” In fact, when I run the “ReadingExcelData.ams” example itself, it doesn't show me the data that model was supposed to read from excel. so my second question is how should I get the example work? Really appreciate any help with this. Thanks

Hi,  this article describes how we can debug on the pro platform: https://documentation.aimms.com/pro/debugging-pro.html .  However, this is not supported for WebUI projects. Is is possible to do this in another way?

Good morning, I have two variables in the diet problem that I want to multiply and I wanted it to be done through Elimination of products of variables so that I have a linear problem. Can you explain me an example in the diet problem. I have read paragraph 7.7 of the aimms user guide.   thank you

I want to clarify the main advantages of installing Pro platforms as a cluster. Is the load distributed when solving tasks(make jobs) on several nodes or is there a link directly to one node? And is it also better to use NLB for balancing, or use a simple round robin by DNS?

Hello everyone the following constraint       0<= P_cotw <= sum PMAX_c 'tau' w 'tau<=t How can I declare the right side of the restriction   c, o, t, w subscripts. 'tau' t = {1,2}   My case is: Constraint LimProdCan {     IndexDomain: (c,o,t,s);     Definition: PotGenCan(c,o,t,s)<=CapConstruir(c,t,s); }   Thank you

Hello everyone, I am currrently doing a project for my university and  I have this type of error :  CPLEX cannot handle MIQCP models with quadratic equality constraints like 'BtoWCosts_definition(91789)'. I checked all my variables and my constraints but couldn’t find any “quadritic” ones.  And the error message tell me the error is in the definition of the variable “BtoWCosts” but again I can changed a lot of thing  and It still didn’t work.  Here is the definition “ BtoW(W)* (NumberTrucks(W)*Truckload(W) )” where Btow(w) is binary and the 2 others Intergers… Thanks You in advance, Yoyo1

In my application, I need to do some stuff with subsets of different sizes of some superset. So I created a set containing the sizes of the subsets and loop over this set of sizes. In each iteration, I extract the subset from the big set using NBest procedure. The sizes of the subsets are ordered in descending order. The use of NBest raises the warning “The local index "_i_SizeOfSubset" is modified inside the for loop.  The condition of the for loop will be re-evaluated, which can be time consuming.  For details on this warning message see the help of the option warning_time_consuming_for_threshold.”. I don’t understand why _i_SizeOfSubset needs to be modified if I pass it to NBest. Using val(_i_SizeOfSubset) does not help either. Could somebody explain to me please, why the warning is issued, and how this could be formulated without modification of _i_SizeOfSubset inside the loop? Procedure PR_SampleLoop { Body: { _S_SizeOfSubset := {1 .. card(S_BigSet)}; for (_i_SizeOfSubset) do !Rai

Hi,   I have built my first AIMMS model and it is running without any errors now. However, it does not read my excel data and therefore I do not get any result. I was wondering what could be the problem. Do I need to save the project and the input excel sheet in the same folder?   Thank you very much in advance!

Hello, i am new to aimms and completed the beginners tutorial and tried to understand the machine planning example, but it was to complicated for me to understand all of it. I want to solve a scheduling problem but i have problems creating the model. Let me explain my situation: In the production there are build articles from different orders and they are transported inside the company within containers. The transport limitation is 8 containers an hour. I want to solve the problem and want the best order which is <= 8 containers an hour, if not possible, than the next following orders should be so small, that it will be compensated, if not possible, a gap with no production time should be inserted. It would be ideal, that the same article is produced in one step (e.g. Article 52107 has to be build for 3 different customer orders). After all, i want to visualize it. My first problem is, that i don’t know how to produce on order after another and make the timeline to calculate the dem

How do I open the page “Managed Requests” of AimmsProGUI or something equivalent of it in WebUI?

I am new to AIMMS and  I want to try out the examples from the Homepage, but when I open them I get the attached Error Message. Can someone please help me out?

Hello everyone,  I face some issues to implement a constraint on AIMMS.  Just to introduce you the problem:  Y(o,l,t) is a binary variable which is equal to 1 if a liquid l (a beer) is ready in tank o at period t; Delta(l) is the fermentation time for a liquid l; How can I implement this constraint?  Thank you for your help.  Regards

I am using the axll library to read my excel database into the Aimms. The number of observations in my database can change each time before running the model in Aimms, and I do not want to make changes to the datareading procedure each time. So, in the datareading procedure (which uses AXLL library) I set the reading row to a bigger number than the maximum number of observations to always read all the database no matter how many observations are in my database.  For example: for an specific identifier, I can have 1 up to 5 rows of data. so I set the excel range as A1:A5. The problem is that I get warnings that the empty rows are ignored. ReadList : Cell A6 in ActGrouping: Remaining rows are ignored after empty header cell. I know this warning is not affecting my model but I just want to get rid of this warning so I can focus on other real warnings.  p.s. I already turned off all warnings from Project Option menu, but still I get these axll warnings.

Hi, Is it possible to add a sound to the WebUI? For example, you press the optimization button in the application and when the optimizer is finished the sound will pop up.

Dear AIMMS Community:   I am using BARON solver to solve a continuous non-convex optimization problem. In small cases, I can see that BARON is finding the global optimum and wherever it is verifiable I am verifying that the results are consistent. So I believe my current modeling is correct.   However, for larger problems, although I get a feasible solution, I don’t have any upper bounds (this is a maximization problem). I found this post, and tried problem.BestBound, which gives NA as answer. How can I fix this issue? Many thanks for your time!
