Solved

Hello,  I would like to create a project with AIMMS about transport problems. All my figures are in an excel table. How can I rearrange my table for use in AIMMS?  I have successfully added the AIMMS tool to my Excel spreadsheet.  Thank you in advance.

Hi! I have just build my first model on AIMMS and when I tried to run the model, the next following error appeared:   If the option “Data management style” is set to “Disk files and folders”, the procedure CaseCreate is not valid.   Would anyone know how I can solve this problem?   Thank you very much in advance!

When I create a project in a folder, which is synced by OneDrive, and I try to add a widget in the WebUI, I get the following error message: “awf.state: Problem writing ‘MainProject/webui.json’ on the server (500: boost::filesystem::create_directory: Eine Datei kann nicht erstellt werden, wenn sie bereits vorhanden ist: [...])’ (translates to: “a file cannot be created when it already exists”). I can continue working in the WebUI, but when I close the project, all my work is lost. I do not experience the problem, as soon as I move the complete project folder outside of OneDrive.  Does anyone else have the same problem? AIMMS version: 4.71.6.8 (64-bit)

Hi everyone. I'm starting with Aimms, I have two questions   First How can I index a variable with an initial value or constraint? . For example X (i) is the dependent variable of the set (for example 4 things) with index i. And what I need is X (1)> = 50 X (2) <= 250   Variable X {     IndexDomain: i;     Range: nonnegative; }   Second How can I implement or call benders decomposition modules, stochastic programming etc. inside the MainExecution procedure? Thank you Thanking you for your support.

Hi, I want to solve several GMPs at the same time. I adopted AsynchronousExecute AIMMS example to my code. From the progress window I can see that all GMPs get to an optimal solution. However, I can only retrieve the solution of the last GMP. Here is my code: I generate 3 GMPs, resolve them, and create one solversession for each of the GMPs: periods := 3; for (i in periods) do myGMP(i) := GMP::Instance::Generate(myMathProgram, "myGMP_" + i);ProgressWindow := GMP::Instance::CreateProgressCategory(myGMP(i)); presolved_myGMP(i) := GMP::Instance::CreatePresolved(myGMP(ip),"presolved_myGMP_" + ipss); SolverSession(i) := GMP::Instance::CreateSolverSession(presolved_myGMP(i),"SS_" + i); GMP::Solution::RetrieveFromModel(presolved_myGMP(i),1);GMP::Solution::SendToSolverSession(SolverSession(i),1);GMP::SolverSession::AsynchronousExecute(SolverSession(i)); endfor;   Here I wait until all asynchronous solversessions are solved. GMP::SolverSession::WaitForCompletion(AllSolverSessions);   Here I wan

Dear all My mathematical problem is to schedule the device in a home to achieve the minimum cost during a day. I divide a day into 24 time slots.  Each device with have its own Power rate and length of operation time. Main variables in my problem are starting time of devices at which a device is started to run. When I run my program, starting times of devices are always at time slot 1 and these are wrong results. I do not know why my program give wrong results. Here is my program Model Main_Test_starting_time {     Set Time {         Index: t;     }     Set Devices {         Index: d;     }     Parameter Price {         IndexDomain: t;     }     Parameter Power_rate {         IndexDomain: d;     }     Parameter Length_of_operation_time {         IndexDomain: d;     }     Variable Starting_time {         IndexDomain: d;         Range: {             {1..inf}         }     }     Variable Energy_consumtion {         IndexDomain: t;         Range: nonnegative;         Definition: sum[d, if

Hi, Through reading AIMMS user’s guide, I wonder how to create a library under the project library folder? Moreover, if the new library was already created under the main AIMMS project, is there any other method I could use to make changes?   Thanks!

What is the status of the Deprecation of “Horizon data types”?

Dear all   I have two variables: X and Y with index domain t. I want to write in definition of X such as X[0] = 0.3 X[1] = X[0] + Y[1] X[2] = X[1] + Y[2] …. How do I write in definition part of variable X ? Please help me   Thank you so much

Hi all, tried to declare a new set with index d. Aimms complained that index d was already used BUT it is not used anywhere in aimms. I just can’t find any sets with index d. Tried also index s; same complaint from aimms. I opened another similar project and I was able to create sets with indices d and a. Not sure what’s happening. Any suggestions would be appreciated    thanks   nick

Hi dear community, I would like to know how AIMMS generates the Display Model. I want to check if AIMMS is reading my model correctly.

In our application, we use both a DailyCalendar and an HourlyCalendar. So we have the standard SI_Time_Duration quantity with second as a base unit and conversions to hour and day. For the daily calendar, I want to model a period of time. So I have two element parameters EP_FirstDay and EP_LastDay with range DailyCalendar and a parameter P_LengthOfPeriod. As the length of the period is specified in days, I set the unit of it to [day]. However, if I set EP_FirstDay to the 1st of January 2020 and P_LengthOfPeriod to 1 [day], then EP_LastDay := EP_FirstDay + P_LengthOfPeriod results in 22nd of July in the year 2256 instead of the 2nd of January (which was quite surprising to me). I understand, that P_LengthOfPeriod is converted to its base unit [s], so the above calculation actually adds 86400 days to EP_FirstDay. Of course, I could just remove the unit from P_LengthOfPeriod, but I would like to keep it, if possible. Is there a better way of modeling these kind of situations? Procedure PR

I would like to report the contents of the Progress window such as the number of variables, parameters, non-zeros, objective function, solve-time, used method, etc. to a customized log file in a preferably .txt or .xlsx file formats. My goal is to have separate log files for each run so I can analyze specific parameters,  e.g. the relation between objective function, solver method, and solving time.  I already found a way, in which the solver (I use Gurobi) writes this information together with a specific number of solving iterations to a log file in the log folder. This method has two major drawbacks for me: First, with every run, the new log will be added to the older log in the same .txt file. So I have to exit the AIMMS after each run to have separate log files! Second, there is a lot of information in this log file that I have no interest in. So I need to write an algorithm in a third-party application to fish the needed values.   Are you aware of any method to achieve my goal wit

I’m trying to update our AIMMS model to the latest software version as it is long overdue - we were previously using version 4.1 and now want to update to 4.71. I’m very new to the AIMMS language so am being stumped by the following error message that appears when I open the model in 4.71:  “A definition cannot as a side effect change another identifier. The third argument of intrinsic function “StringToElement” should be set to 0 explicitly.”   The piece of code that relates to this error message is { (tpehis,pe) | FormatString("%e",pe) = StringToElement(Periods,SubString(FormatString("%e",tpehis),1,4) + "-" + SubString(FormatString("%e",tpehis),5,6) ,1)};   From what I can pick up from the manual, in the StringToElement function, a value of 1 creates the element. This piece of code works perfectly fine in the 4.1 version of AIMMS. Why is this error occurring and how can I fix this?   Thanks.

It seems the data-widget.uri selector for the selectionbox widget can only be accessed in the div of the code that manages the non-dropdown options.  The div that controls the dropdown options is farther down and does not have the data-widget.uri selector available. How can I change the styling of the fonts in the dropdown box if I want to change them for exactly ONE selectionbox widget only?

In WebUI in the Map widget I can change the outline of the label, but not the color of the label. Notice what my font looks like with the following css: Here’s the result: I recall having a similar issue with the labels on the Gantt chart, for which the solution was to use the selector .label. I have tried this with the map widget with no success. Can you please tell me what css I need to style this?

Hi, I’m able to set the height of the headers in a widget → However, is it also possible to change the number of lines from 1 to 2 / 3? I tried a few things in CSS but it didn’t work.   I’m looking for something like this:   Preferably with a title line and a smaller subtitle line

Is is possible to add a label to a bar chart widget?  Looking to this picture, it is not clear if the supply in Hamburg is 68/69. I would be happy with the following labels:    (and also the legend would be great)

I was wondering if there is a way in aimms to generate sol and lp files using original variable and constrain names which are used in aimms modelling, or alternatively, to figure out the correspondence between variables in the sol and lp files and those in the aimms model? Thanks

I need to provide an initial (staring) solution for a mixed integer programming from a solution file (file.sol) to help the solver (cplex) in finding the optimal solution faster, but I do not know how.  I need to mention that: I have changed the setting for cplex to “Use advanced basis” the file.sol has been created by aimms for the same MIP  My knowledge of aimms is basic  I  would appreciate if you could provide some details about variable initialisation. Thanks

Dear All, Looking for a list of solvers (LP/MIP/NLP/quadratic), applications and limitations. Thanks.

Hi, I read some topics about setting the colors of a legend widget. However, I think that those topics are related to a fixed color for a specific item.  For example, parameter pDemand(iscen), I use an color per scenario to show different colors in a line chart via an annotation spAnnotion(iscen). Now I want to show the same colors in the legend widget, So I made a parameter pLegend(iscen) with the same annotation spAnnotation(iscen). I would expect that the legend is using the same colors as the line chart.  But the colors of the legend are not changing?

Hi, I have a question regarding some best practices in terms of reading excel files with the axll library. Here, we have to specify the header / dataranges before reading. Often, we don't know exactly how many rows of data we have. We can of course set the max row number arbitrary large (or to the excel sheet row limit of 1,048,576), but that feels like a ‘dirty’ solution. Is there another way we can only read the rows which actually have data? Ideally, I would like some sort of functionality which ‘peeks’ into the file and tells us where the data is. Curious to hear possibilities in this regard. Thanks!

I am getting the following error when I try to open a project in 4.70: This project (with WebUI) opens just fine in 4.69.  What needs to be fixed? And how can I fix it?

Dear All, In many publications related to power system expansion planning, model validation is done by applying the developed model to a small system such as Garver 6 Bus and describing the result without detailed explanation to justify the model is valid or not. Is there any specific methods to validate the optimization model? Thank you very much.
