Hi all, tried to declare a new set with index d. Aimms complained that index d was already used BUT it is not used anywhere in aimms. I just can’t find any sets with index d. Tried also index s; same complaint from aimms. I opened another similar project and I was able to create sets with indices d and a. Not sure what’s happening. Any suggestions would be appreciated    thanks   nick  

  Hi dear community, I would like to know how AIMMS generates the Display Model. I want to check if AIMMS is reading my model correctly.

In our application, we use both a DailyCalendar and an HourlyCalendar. So we have the standard SI_Time_Duration quantity with second as a base unit and conversions to hour and day. For the daily calendar, I want to model a period of time. So I have two element parameters EP_FirstDay and EP_LastDay with range DailyCalendar and a parameter P_LengthOfPeriod. As the length of the period is specified in days, I set the unit of it to [day]. However, if I set EP_FirstDay to the 1st of January 2020 and P_LengthOfPeriod to 1 [day], then EP_LastDay := EP_FirstDay + P_LengthOfPeriod results in 22nd of July in the year 2256 instead of the 2nd of January (which was quite surprising to me). I understand, that P_LengthOfPeriod is converted to its base unit [s], so the above calculation actually adds 86400 days to EP_FirstDay. Of course, I could just remove the unit from P_LengthOfPeriod, but I would like to keep it, if possible. Is there a better way of modeling these kind of situations? Procedure PR

I would like to report the contents of the Progress window such as the number of variables, parameters, non-zeros, objective function, solve-time, used method, etc. to a customized log file in a preferably .txt or .xlsx file formats. My goal is to have separate log files for each run so I can analyze specific parameters,  e.g. the relation between objective function, solver method, and solving time.  I already found a way, in which the solver (I use Gurobi) writes this information together with a specific number of solving iterations to a log file in the log folder. This method has two major drawbacks for me: First, with every run, the new log will be added to the older log in the same .txt file. So I have to exit the AIMMS after each run to have separate log files! Second, there is a lot of information in this log file that I have no interest in. So I need to write an algorithm in a third-party application to fish the needed values.   Are you aware of any method to achieve my goal wit

I’m trying to update our AIMMS model to the latest software version as it is long overdue - we were previously using version 4.1 and now want to update to 4.71. I’m very new to the AIMMS language so am being stumped by the following error message that appears when I open the model in 4.71:  “A definition cannot as a side effect change another identifier. The third argument of intrinsic function “StringToElement” should be set to 0 explicitly.”   The piece of code that relates to this error message is { (tpehis,pe) | FormatString("%e",pe) = StringToElement(Periods,SubString(FormatString("%e",tpehis),1,4) + "-" + SubString(FormatString("%e",tpehis),5,6) ,1)};   From what I can pick up from the manual, in the StringToElement function, a value of 1 creates the element. This piece of code works perfectly fine in the 4.1 version of AIMMS. Why is this error occurring and how can I fix this?   Thanks.

It seems the data-widget.uri selector for the selectionbox widget can only be accessed in the div of the code that manages the non-dropdown options.  The div that controls the dropdown options is farther down and does not have the data-widget.uri selector available. How can I change the styling of the fonts in the dropdown box if I want to change them for exactly ONE selectionbox widget only?

In WebUI in the Map widget I can change the outline of the label, but not the color of the label. Notice what my font looks like with the following css: Here’s the result: I recall having a similar issue with the labels on the Gantt chart, for which the solution was to use the selector .label. I have tried this with the map widget with no success. Can you please tell me what css I need to style this?

I was wondering if there is a way in aimms to generate sol and lp files using original variable and constrain names which are used in aimms modelling, or alternatively, to figure out the correspondence between variables in the sol and lp files and those in the aimms model? Thanks

I need to provide an initial (staring) solution for a mixed integer programming from a solution file (file.sol) to help the solver (cplex) in finding the optimal solution faster, but I do not know how.  I need to mention that: I have changed the setting for cplex to “Use advanced basis” the file.sol has been created by aimms for the same MIP  My knowledge of aimms is basic  I  would appreciate if you could provide some details about variable initialisation. Hi, I read some topics about setting the colors of a legend widget. However, I think that those topics are related to a fixed color for a specific item.  For example, parameter pDemand(iscen), I use an color per scenario to show different colors in a line chart via an annotation spAnnotion(iscen). Now I want to show the same colors in the legend widget, So I made a parameter pLegend(iscen) with the same annotation spAnnotation(iscen). I would expect that the legend is using the same colors as the line chart.  But the colors of the legend are not changing?

Hi, I have a question regarding some best practices in terms of reading excel files with the axll library. Here, we have to specify the header / dataranges before reading. Often, we don't know exactly how many rows of data we have. We can of course set the max row number arbitrary large (or to the excel sheet row limit of 1,048,576), but that feels like a ‘dirty’ solution. Is there another way we can only read the rows which actually have data? Ideally, I would like some sort of functionality which ‘peeks’ into the file and tells us where the data is. Curious to hear possibilities in this regard. Thanks!

Dear All, In many publications related to power system expansion planning, model validation is done by applying the developed model to a small system such as Garver 6 Bus and describing the result without detailed explanation to justify the model is valid or not. I’m getting crazy proficient in changing my colors of stuff, but there’s one thing that I’m still missing. If I’m not specific in my annotations, WebUI will default to the factory color palette. How can I change my default color palette to be my client’s branding color palette?    Here are the WebUI standard colors. Granted, they’re pretty, but I need to be able to have properly branded colors.  

Dear AIMMS Team, I am a PhD student in the UK and I have been trying to solve a non-linear non-convex optimisation problem with different solvers for a Journal Paper. The following are the CPU details: Intel Core i7 2.2GHz, 16GB RAM memory, 64-bit operating system. So far the solvers CONOPT 4.0 and IPOPT 3.11 have been able to solve the case without problems. Unfortunately, when I use MINOS the following error appears: Errors/Warnings Warning: Model status 13: Error no solution, Solver status 9: Error: Setup failure (see message window). Message Window For the MinCost 39239 columns have been generated of which only 31245 are non-empty. Calling MINOS for NLP of 34726 rows, 31245 columns and 109867 non-zeros. Hi AIMMS support! I have noticed that for the Workflow Panel and for the Status Bar there are pre-declared sets for indication of the order of the workflow steps (webui::indexWorkflowOrder) and status bar messages (webui::indexApplicationExtension) respectively. But for the Side Panel and the Widget Action the developer needs to declare such a set (as a subset of integers) in each model. In my point of view it will be better to work with per-declared sets for all these objects, also makes it easier to copy sections between different models. Are there plans to add these pre-declared sets for the workflow and status in the future releases? Thanks, Tanya

Dear All, I want to model a variable that only can be applied for certaint set index. For example: Variable NPGMax {     IndexDomain: (i,g,ng)|ord(i) = 1 or ord(i) = 3 or ord(i) = 6; } where the variable NPGMax is only applied for index 1, 3, or 6 of set bus with index i. Is it possibel to do it dynamiclly where the value 1,3, or 6 can be assigned as an input parameter? Thank you very much.

FileSelect works just fine in WebUI, BUT it pops up over the AIMMS developer instance.  How can I force this to pop up over the WebUI interface so the user doesn’t have to hunt for it (or be confused when they don’t see it and WebUI won’t respond)? In AIMMS PRO, does this pop up in the WebUI. Or can you even select files in AIMMS PRO? Thanks!

Hello Members, i want to add a time restriction constraint in my model in which i have variable s(i,j,k) for time where i and j belongs to node and k belongs to vehicle.  i want to add a constraint which will ensure that each vehicle will not work more than 8 hours.  Provide the possible formulation against this constraint.
