New WebUI Widget Framework - Part 2

Dear Community,As explained in the previous article New WebUI Widget Framework!, we are working on POCs and we think its time to show a sneak peek into the progress.Here is a simplified representation of how the new framework would work.First, as we progressed with the specification we realized that JSON’s can be quite lengthy and scary to look at. So we decided to support the specification in XML as well, which is more concise and readable. Second, we are working on integrating our existing features so that you do not have to change anything in your model. Features like:Custom HTML Tooltips Item Actions Annotations defined in the AnnotationsIdentifier layer or the identifier. How to visualize lines in a chart for two parameters with missing values?

I tried to draw two lines in a graph for two different parameters, one of them has missing/null values and for some reason AIMMS then draws a line to zero (like in the picture below). How can I fix this?

Hi AIMMS,Is it possible to add a tooltip to an multiselect widget? For example, below I want to see the description behind the status IDs when hoovering.Adding a tooltip annotation (both to the set as to the binary parameter) does not do the trick for me.

Lists with text aligned as "justify" inside a Text Widget on Web UI are not being displayed as expected

Hello, I am using WebUI and I would like to create create a Side Panel that contains a generic List.I order to do so, I have added a Text Widget to the Side Panel. Then, I tried to fill it through both the input field and by setting a string parameter as input.For both approaches, the List actually displays a very unusual alignment to the left when “justified” is applied as “Text Alignment”. Page Configuration:Page View as a Side Panel:My goal is to make it look closer to what is rendered in a web browser when the corresponding HTML code is loaded. Inf as default values

Has anyone solved how WebUI shows default inf values? It is crashing my system over, and over again. Page Name@contents: Identifier 'Parameter' contains special value 'inf' which is not supported (and displayed as 'Infinity')

New WebUI Widget Framework - Part 3

Dear Community, As explained in the previous article New WebUI Widget Framework - Part 2, we are working on a new and more robust WebUI Widget framework. While we are at it, we are also building new Column Chart and Line Chart widgets. We look forward to having these 2 widgets available as a Beta release towards end of this year. We will offer a demo of these features in our upcoming `Online User Meetup | Live WebUI Product Update`. Please register here. We have also improved our Widgets Option Editor. This has resulted in better performance and new features such as:Categorizing index related options (Like Store-Focus, Totals, etc.) Default identifier options Options inheritanceFor example, on the Column Chart, we can now set defaults for generic options like Display Units and Num Decimals, and then inherit these default values upon each of the data identifiers. How to change the WebUI display name of a parameter/set?

In my projects I like to use prefixes such as ‘s_’ for sets and 'p_’ for parameters.However, when designing a webUI page, I would like to mask these names with something more human-friendly. How do I do this?My minimal working example project contains two items:Set s_DummyData { Text: "SetDescription"; Index: i_dummy; Definition: { DATA {1 .. 100}; }}Parameter p_SampleParam { IndexDomain: i_dummy; Text: "ParamDescription"; Definition: { val(i_dummy) * 100; }}What I hoped the Text attribute would do, is replace ‘s_DummyData’ with ‘SetDescription’. New WebUI Widget Framework!

Dear Community, We constantly strive to add value to our customers and users by adding new features to make it easier to build applications and provide the best visualization and user interface. In this endeavor, we realize some underlying technical challenges slow us down from time to time. We are therefore building a new WebUI framework that is flexible, robust, and easy to use for us and our users (e.g. when custom widgets are needed, or existing widgets need custom changes).Some of the issues we aim to solve or address are:We have to build each widget from scratch since most widgets do not share a common base. Why reinvent the wheel when there are libraries that already provide a large set of charts! Lowering/eliminating the dependency on third-party libraries that are no longer updated(maintained) or have legacy code that makes it difficult to build new features. Disable filtering in a specific table

I am wondering if it is possible to disable end-user filtering in one specific table in the UI?The use case as follows: the user needs to be able to do mass changes on a specific parameter displayed in the a table. The idea is that by filtering through a few multiselect widgets the user can define which rows are displayed in the table, and then via buttons or widget actions apply the mass changes.To avoid the confusion for the user, I want to restict the user from applying end-user filtering, since this will not work appropriately with the mass change procedures.

How to sort in a bar chart in the WebUI

Hello! In the WebUI of AIMMS I created a bar chart containing based on 23 data points. However I would like to order the different bars in an ascending order. Is this possible in the WebUI? Next to that I have another question: in the same WebUI I have another bar chart which shows the workload of 60 different nurses. Right now each of the nurses gets a specific color, however there are three different types of nurses. So in the bar chart it would be nice if each nurse of a certain type has the same color. So, for example, all nurses from type 1 get a green color in the bar chart. Is this possible in AIMMS? Thanks in advance! Jelle

Is it possible to setup a polling procedure to update the status bar?

I was wondering if the following workflow is possible in AIMMS WebUI.User runs a procedure - this could include a web::request_invoke_async() or Execute(), for example User can continue other work Status bar procedure polls for an update and displays statusCurrently, I could setup a manual polling procedure that the user can click and run to check the status. I imagine one can setup a separate app that gets an ID and details of user request and polls for the status and runs an AIMMS procedure using AIMMS PRO API to update the status bar. (Is it even possible to run a procedure in an active AIMMS session/job through the PRO API?) It is a little too convoluted to setup simple use cases.

bar line chart: showing labels and secondary Y axis

Hi, I know this was asked before (I believe a > 1 year ago), but is there already a way to show the values in a bar-line chart. I know you can have a nice hint-text, but I want these labels shown immediately, so you can get all relevant data in one single view/screenshot (useful for ppt presentations for managers).In addition, the values for the bars and line I want to show have different ranges, thereby having a secondary Y axis is almost a necessity. Is that already possible, or expected anytime soon? My customer now copies data to Excel so they can make the graph they want, which I believe is a pity. Many thanks,Frank

Multiple questions about the WebUI

In your answer to my previous question, you mentioned I could keep the questions coming. Last couple of days I have been playing quite a bit with AIMMS and the WebUI again, so here are some of my questions @Pratap Kumble . In the winUI, I had the option of denoting a string parameter that should be used for the display of the values of an index of a parameter in the pivottable. For example, my set could be elements {0,1,2} but I could set a string parameter to be used to display the values of the set, meaning in the table it would be shown as { “My option 1”, “My option 2”, “My option 3” } Is this still easily possible and am I overlooking something, or is this option not possible anymore? One of the options I liked in the winUI is setting the columns to auto-width based on the data that was displayed. This way I did not have to manually figure out what is the best width for each of the columns. Is this option still possible in the webUI? Do I understand correctly that the difference

Style of scalar widget in webui

Started another round of playing around with the AIMMS webui and running into some more questions again I think most of my questions originate from the fact I still think in the old winUI and trying to convert my mind into the webUI way of thinking I saw that the scalar widget has two ways it can display the contents, depending on whether you include one or more values: The top one is the style whenever you select a single scalar value, the bottom one is when you have multiple scalars to be displayed. Is it possible to use the second style if you just want to display a single scalar value? The underlying reason for this question is that I would like to create something like the DialogGetString functionality: create a dialog page that provides the user with a field to provide the name for a scenario or a case. Is there anything I am overlooking here? Am I trying to use the webUI in the old winUI way and should I be doing this in a different way?

WebUI Performance Meetup

Hello, WebUI community :) WebUI performance (i.e., ensuring a snappy user experience) is a key focus area for the AIMMS WebUI development team. Early this year, we released a performance improvement like 'Smarter Delivery'. Many performance enhancements are triggered by your input during several sessions over the last year; thanks for that! The primary learning for us is that there is more to WebUI performance than merely measuring how long it takes to load a page in your browser, for example, how your end-user perceives your application. We want to continue with this effort this year by organizing regular (i.e., a few times a year) meetups (with a group of users). During such a meetup, we plan toshare success stories between customers on how they managed to improve the performance of their application and/or deep-dive into a specific, real-life, WebUI application to understand the reason for slowness and share tips.The outcome of such a meetup could be some tips on improving your app

WebUI Allocation problem result display

Hi,I am dealing with the allocation problem where my result is a binary variable. In the application the result, the data filled in the variable, is presented in a nice way but I cannot get it to work in the WebUI. Is there a way to get this done ? How to Select a Date in WebUI

I have a String parameter for BeginDateofCalendar which takes a string of date.I created a procedure for getting value for the above string parameter using DialogGetDate which gives me option to select a date from Calendar.But it only working in WinUI. When i am running the procedure in a page in WebUI its running but the calendar is opening in AIMMS App, not in WebUI.what should i do so that the calendar opens in WebUI and not in AIMMS App?

Grid Layout for beautiful and consistent looking applications.

Hello Community! We recently released AIMMS 4.75 which packs quite a punch and is feature-rich!We would love to hear your feedback on all the WebUI features and are curious to hear more about the Grid Layout.Creating a layout in the WebUI and arranging widgets is a somewhat time-consuming task. We believe the Grid Layout will save you time and also bring consistency in the way your application looks. Some of the features that are available in the grid layout are:10 standard layouts to choose from. Select a layout and just assign widgets areas. No need to size widgets anymore. The fit and adjust in the areas when assigned. Fits in a lot more resolutions. Moving towards responsiveness. Tablet friendly.
